With experience of large and small scale productions, Lou Jasmine’s sets are always relaxed, intimate spaces where she makes it her priority to ensure her subjects are comfortable in front of the camera.
“Before I start shooting, before I place a big hunk of metal between me and my subject(s), I take a few quiet moments to check in with them. I ask how they’re feeling, explain my process and then I give them an opportunity to confide in me so we can work through any thoughts and feelings they feel might be holding them back. I find out a little about them, what makes them laugh, what makes them proud, what makes them excited and then I look at them. Really look at them from head to toe, back to front and then decide what position I shoot. So when they step in, there is a bond formed between me and them and it doesn’t matter how near or far I am from them, how high or low I go, they trust me and I trust them” - Lou Jasmine
